Chur Burger

Public art wall / outdoor dining project submitted for DA.

Other Architects, in collaboration with our talented friends at Alexander Symes Architect, recently lodged a Development Application for a public art wall and outdoor dining area at Sydney's popular Chur Burger eatery.

Inspired by Vito Acconci and Steven Holl's seminal Storefront for Art and Architecture in New York, the project features a removable facade that folds open to provide benches, tables and concealed lighting, enlivening the street corner.

Each year prominent street artists will be invited to create a new mural across this facade. The opening and closing of hinged panels is intended to act like a jigsaw puzzle, interrupting or completing the overall design.

We are awaiting approval from the City of Sydney and hope to oversee the project's installation early in 2015.
